Before diving deep into why should you start blogging in 2024, let’s talk about some statistics available on internet:
- As per statistics by Simplilearn, despite the fact that 500 million blogs out there and more than 2 million posts go live every day, blogging is still a key component of digital marketing plans for most marketers.

As internet technologies grow exponentially, people’s perceptions toward employment have also shifted. Many now embrace the “Be Your Own Boss” concept. What could be more enticing than working from the comfort of your own home, answering only to yourself, and shaping your workload according to your preferences while earning a substantial income? If this idea resonates with you, then this article is tailored just for you.
With a blogging website, you can generate a significant income while working on your terms. Starting your own blog doesn’t necessitate extensive technical expertise or even mastery of impeccable English. All that’s required is the ability to express yourself in a clear and simple manner.
Who can start a blog
Well, the truth is, anyone can begin blogging. Whether you’re a Financial Consultant, Chartered Accountant, Fashion Designer, Photographer, Fitness Trainer, Tutor, Business Coach, or in any other profession, you can launch your own blog.
“What should you publish?” You have the freedom to publish anything you believe would interest your readers. For instance, if you’re a “Fitness” or “Yoga Trainer,” you can create blogs on topics related to fitness, health, and lifestyle. In today’s digital age, readers seek authentic information. By providing such content, you will undoubtedly attract visitors to your blog.
Technical requirements for starting a Blog
For starting a blog, you need a few things like Domain, Web Hosting & CMS to build a blogging site.
What is a domain
A domain refers to a unique name that identifies a website. It serves as the address used to locate and access a particular website on the internet. Domains are part of the Domain Name System (DNS), and they help users find websites by using memorable words or phrases instead of complex strings of numbers. Every domain has a specific format, typically consisting of two main parts: the actual name and the domain extension. For instance, in “webtrafficindia.in”, “webtrafficindia” is the unique name chosen by us and “.in” is the domain extension. Make a note that “.com” is the widely used extension as it denotes a commercial/ global website. In our case, we are more concerned about the local Indian region so we opted for “.in” extension.
What is Web Hosting
Web hosting is a service that allows individuals or organizations to make their websites accessible via the World Wide Web. It’s like renting space on a server where your website files, data, and content are stored so that your customers/ users can access via the internet. When a user types in a domain name in their web browser, the browser requests the website’s files from the hosting server. These files, including HTML, images, videos, and other resources, are hosted and served to visitors, enabling them to view the website content.
Web hosting companies provide the technologies and services needed for a website to be viewed online. They offer different types of hosting, such as shared hosting (where multiple websites share the resources of a single server), virtual private servers (VPS), dedicated servers, and cloud hosting, each catering to different website needs based on factors like traffic, performance, security, and customization requirements. In the upcoming segment we’ll discuss all these things in detail.
What is Content Management System (CMS)
A Content Management System (CMS) is a software application or platform that facilitates the creation, management, and modification of digital content for websites without requiring in-depth technical knowledge. CMS provides an intuitive interface that allows users to add, edit, organize, and publish content, such as text, images, videos, and other multimedia elements, on their websites.
FYI, we are using WordPress as a CMS. Try it for free!
In the next segment of this blog series, we’ll discuss domains, hosting, CMS and other allied topics. Happy reading!
